“Is Pakistan set to be the first country to test and launch 5G technology services in South Asia
The Minister of information technology Anusha Rehman speaking at the information communication technology (ICT) awards ceremony in April, 2017, that Pakistan would be the first country in South Asia to test 5th generation internet services for fast connectivity. She also said the government is working hard on a project to provide at least two mobile towers per 200 users in villages by 2030.
Is it possible to have 5G technology with full and fast coverage in Pakistan?
5G: fifth generation cellular network technology, although scientists are still undecided on what 5G exactly means, a game-changer technology will enable users to download a huge amount of Data within seconds. Many scientists also have said the rays of the new technology might cause brain cells of all the human beings. Yet the world seems to neglect all the side effects of the latest technology but have to be the first in technology race. Now the speed of 5G are expected to be a thousand times faster than LTE data transfer, Even 5th generation will be operating on a millimeter wave based, Microwaves have larger range than millimeter waves. That’s why the cells are limited to smaller size. 5G can also support a million devices per square kilometer while the 4G only supports 100,000 devices. Nowlet’s have a look on previous generations of cellular technology services in Pakistan. Since many parts of the country do not have access even full coverage of 3G services. Pakistan costumers are not satisfied with the qualities of 3G and 4G technologies. Yet a Chinese giant company Huawei is keen to launch 5G service in Pakistan. Besides, users are not satisfied with the quality of previous cellular technologies like 3G and 4G services. Yes! In Pakistan there is a huge gap to be filled with 3G and 4G connectivity services.
OpenSignal Globally Reported: A company of wireless network mapping, has revealed that Pakistan’s 3G’s average 3g speed is among the lowest in the world at just 3.33MBPS. Almost every Pakistani cellular network claims to be the best services provider but every network company have access to limited number of cities. Though, Zongclaims to be a leader of the market for 4G, Even they also claimed to have successfully tested 5G on Thursday, but again users still face many difficulties with connectivity of signals.
But the question is how will Pakistan be the first country in South Asia to test and launch the latest and fastest 5th generation technology? Though, there is a huge connectivity problem almost in every network company, how the networks will manage to upgrade all the towers in Pakistan. Amid network and technology war between Huawei and American giant companies, World renowned Chinese company Huawei have a big surprise plan for Pakistani customers to have 5G technology before other South Asian countries. The mega project have planned to test as soon as possible, the company have already began upgrading towers with Zong, China mobile company (CMpak) from last year and set to launch in 2020.
