Raja Wazir Ali Rahu.
“Other people work because they have to, I work because I want to”
Usually profiles are written about prominent people, people who are on some prominent post. But the man I am writing about today is a commoner. A commoner that does things that are not so common. A commoner who thinks about his neighborhood in this time of selfishness. He serves his community without asking for anything in return. A commoner who wants other commoners to be safe secure and happy.

Raja Wazir Ali Rahu, a former police man, born and raised in the city of Sufi saint Shah Abdul Lateef Bhittai, Bhit Shah. He is a common man but a kind of commoner you don’t find very commonly. He is famous among the people of Bhit Shah for his social work and community service. But he does not work for any NGO or does not post his pictures of doing all that. He does that stuff because he feels like doing something for his community.
His day starts with cleaning the street he lives in, he sweeps hi area outside regularly. At a day and time where a common person feels insult in cleaning his own house, he cleans the whole street. Then he heads towards the garden to pluck some fresh and beautiful flowers. He makes bouquet out of those flowers and presents them to the people of the city who are serving the community. People like teachers, doctors, civil servants are the regular receivers of these flowers. He thinks that the people who server our community, deserve our appreciation and presenting them with flowers is his way of appreciating them.

He is a social worker as well, he builds speed breakers in the streets. Raja Rahu adores children and he says that young boys ride bikes very hastily and they can hurt or injure the children playing in the streets. So in order to contain them from over speeding, he makes speed breakers in the Streets.
Another social work of Raja is doing wall chalking. His most famous line is “beware of pick pockets”. He writes this line all over the major spots of the city, he says that his inspiration for doing this was an incident when he saw a bunch of empty wallets in a mosque one day. He realized that it was the work of a pick pocket. So he decided to do wall chalking all over the city to make people aware of pick Pockets, especially in the days of the Fair of Shah Abdul Lateef Bhittai.

The last but not the least feature of his life is that he is an environmentalist and care for the environment and health of people. Even though he is not an artist but he has painted some paintings which portray that how the brick mills are ruining the environment of his city. He mourns over the deforestation that has been going on in and around the city.

Raja Wazir Ali Rahu might not be on a big post or a very prominent person but the pain and sympathy he has for his people and the environment are something to be appreciated and followed. People call him a fool and crazy at times but he says that he does not care about what people say. He would keep serving his community till death with whatever resources he has. If we had more people like Raja, the world would be a better place to live in.
