Sindh University Canteens Comparison .

Canteens are an integral and very important part of any educational institute , it has a huge role to play in the University. It is only place that is very rarely found empty on any given working day. Some students use canteen for food and refreshment while for some it is the headquarter of Gossips. Some just sit there and judge people's dressing , the way they look or speak ,and some go there to look at the beautiful people who are there . But one way or the other ,canteen is essential in the formulation of a complete and fun university life.

University of Sindh is one of the biggest University in Pakistan , both by area and by the number of students , so it has numerous canteens. Every canteen of Sindh University has different features and characteristics . Some are known for good food , while some are know to be a good place for dating , some have cleanliness as there prime feature and some are  just a good place to hangout with your gang.

I will take you to a trip of the 6 major canteens of Sindh University and together we would find out which canteen is good at what.

 If you enter the University From the main gate and take a left from the central library you will find the IMCS canteen on some distance.

The main feature of this canteen is not its food , not its atmosphere or the beautiful students, but it is known for a very technical use. This canteen is the only canteen in the University where a student can fill in forms for exams and have them printed out and its business shoots up specifically in the days of exams.

If you continue walking on that road towards the IT department you will find the commonly known IT canteen . Now this canteen is famous for a lot of reasons , its tea , its gappu burger , its variety of foods available to eat . You can have tea , samoosa , patties , biryani , bun kabab , zinger , fries , cold drinks and many more eatables at this single place . But the featue that makes it unique is not these food items but the separate portion where couples can hangout . When i got admission in the university i was told that if you wanna have a date , IT canteen is the place to go, and i benefited form that advice many times. But not only for couples but group of friends with gender diversity can also hangout there without any creepy boys staring at them while rolling thier mustaches.

If we continue walking on the same road and take a right , we would find the Central Canteen of the University . Now as you all might know that Sindh University hosts students from mostly middle class and poor families , so those students who live in the hostel or can not afford to pay more at other canteens come to the CC where they can eat how ever much they want in 50 rupees only(Single item) . Home like food is its prime feature . They are the only canteen that sells , qorma , daal , anda keema  and dishes that you mostly eat at your home. There is a fresh juice corner as well where you can have orange , mango , banana , chiku shakes at reasonable prices.

NOw for our next destination we will have to walk about half a km and that is the english canteen . The important thing is its location because this canteen is in the middle of what could be called the beauty zone of the Sindh University . English, Arts and design ,Mass communication , biochemistry , genetics , microbiology and food and nutrition are the departments it is surrounded by. Its food is good but the real game here is about the atmosphere . You will find every possible kind of individual or group at this canteen , singles , couples , an only guys group , only girls group,a mixed gender diverse group , this canteen hosts everyone of them at this single place. And the cold war between the two shop owners is something to be seen everyday . Couples mostly opt to sit on the bach side of this canteen which is not the most clean place to sit at. you find yourself in company of some dogs there at times . But anyways it is one of the most populated canteen of the university.

Now we need to take a few steps back and take a left from the mass Communication department and reach the art faculty. On entering the arts faculty you would automatically find students sitting over stools beside the park having samoosas or something else.But the canteen known as the Teachers Cafeteria is located upstairs beside the gardens. Now this canteen is the cleanest , most organized canteen of the university , majorly because many teachers and faculty members turn to this Canteen when they need to have some chit chat over tea or lunch. They offer Chai , sandwiches , biryani but the item that is the best according to me is the samoosa chat , it is crushed samoosa with some chatni and salad on top of it. That quality of samoosa is not found anywhere else in the university. And it is the best place if you wanna study a little while having your lunch as well.

 The last but not the least major canteen of The university of Sindh is the Magsi Canteen . Now this canteen has a legacy . It is probably the oldest canteen of the university , it is located right in front of the arts faculty. This canteen now has two portions . Which i call the division of rural and urnan sindh . On the left side there is the all guys portion , this place is home to the stereotypicalrural sindhi students , wearing cotton clothes with peshawari sandels , with big mostaches with a group of 15 other guys who look the same. This place is called the otaq of the univeristy . This is a place to eat and to resolve issues but if you are a girl and wanna be harrased or stared at in the most vicious manner this is the place you wanna be crossing. 

On the right side of this canteen is the portion where combined group can sit and eat . In between of these two portions is a number of shops that include a chat shop , a sugarcane juice shop , two photcopy shops and two stationary shops .

Other than these there are some other canteens as well but these are the 6 major canteens of the univeristy of Sindh .

These canteens contribute a lot to a students life , they are not just a source of food for the students but a place to hangout and make memories , memories that would stay with them for the rest of their lives.
